This 2 hour, hands-on workshop guides you through the fundamentals of using a sewing machine. During the class, you'll be introduced to various tools and techniques, including machine operation and troubleshooting, cutting skills, basic pattern use, and construction techniques.
No prior experience needed. Walk away with the knowledge to take on future projects.
We provide:
- Sewing machines and materials.
- Light snacks and hot and cold beverages.
Skills you will leave with:
- Threading a sewing machine
- Winding a bobbin
- Changing a needle
- Lockstitch sewing
- Using the backstitch
- Using a variety of cutting tools
Workshop Hours:
Thursday classes are 6pm-8pm.
Saturday classes are 3pm-5pm.

Workshop tickets are non-refundable. However, they are transferable. You are welcome to sell or give your ticket to someone else if you cannot attend a workshop.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can my child take the Sewing Machine Basics Class?
Yes, however young people under 14 years old must attend with an adult chaperone, who is also registered to take the class. Participants 14 years old and older may take the class without a parent or responsible chaperone present during the class.
Do I need to bring my own sewing machine?
No, we have plenty of sewing machines in the studio. However, if you have a machine you would like to understand better, and use during the class, you are welcome to bring it.
Can your studio accomodate a wheelchair?
Yes! Give us a heads up when you register so we can make sure to reserve a space at the most accessible table and machine.
